It's watching you feedback

This is the feedback we got from the rest of the class on our film It's Watching you. I found it helpful and interesting on what other people thought of our film as the feedback given will be helpful to look back on when making our trailer next year.

Evaluation Activity 8

There are a few targets that I want to set myself ready for G324 next year when I make a trailer. One of my targets is to be more organised when filming such as figuring out dates when everyone is available to film and make sure we have enough time do to the filming we need to during the day. Another target that I have set myself is to use a wider range of camera angles/shots so they trailer looks more professional and is effective to the audience watching. Also I will include more detail in more blog posts and add more images to make it more interesting as I have more knowledge on Media and also learned new key terms which I can include.

Also if we choose to make a horror trailer we can add effects into the film as we have more knowledge on this genre. During a trailer it doesn't focus on just one scene it focuses on some of the most important scenes so we will be able to focus on a range of events to include in our trailer. Also we will be able to use more characters in the trailer as it focuses on scenes throughout the film instead of just a certain part like in the opening 2 minutes.

Evaluation Activity 7

During the preliminary task and the final product of making the opening 2 minutes of our film I have learned a range of new things about media. One of these is camera shots/angles, how they are effective and what kind of scene they would be used in. This information helped when making our film as we knew which angles to use which would be effective. One of the things I learned from the camera angles is that a high or low angle shot shows who has more or less power during a scene. Also I learned that whatever age group is featured in the film the most are most likely to target the same age audience who will watch the film as the may feel that they can relate to certain situations.

Also by learning about the different stereotypes of characters in films this helped to decide what genre our film was going to be and what the ages of the characters will be as it's important to target the right audience in order for the film to be successful. Also during this I have learned how to edit by using Adobe which took a while to get used to but after a a little bit of using it we got the hang of it especially making sure the sound is matched up to the footage.

Evaluation Activity 6

During the making of our opening 2 minutes we only used a few pieces of equipment including a tripod, selfie stick, Chloe's Iphone to film on and my Iphone to take pictures during filming. we decided on using an Iphone to film with because the quality of the camera is the same or better compared to a camera and the same goes for using my phone to take pictures during filming. The tripod we used is designed to be used when filming with a phone. By using this it helped with keeping the phone still when filming. We all knew how to use each piece of equipment but learned how to put the tripod in different positions so we could get a certain angle.

When uploading our storyboard, our film and feedback from the rest of the class this was all uploaded onto YouTube which we all know how to use but not familiar with uploading videos. We had to figure out how to change the file format to the right one as the one it originally has isn't the right one for YouTube. This took a while but we finally figured it out.

When editing our film we used a software called Adobe Premiere Elements 10  which is a software I wasn't familiar with as I have never used it before. One of the issues we had was getting to know what tools to use for certain parts when editing but we managed to get the hang of it. Some problems with the software we had were that sometimes when we were watching the film to see what parts needed to be edited it would freeze which caused us to miss certain parts which we had to keep rewinding and rendering the film to make sure we didn't lose the footage.

Evaluation Activity 5

The audience were drawn into our movie because of the use of sound and some of the similarities with other popular horror movies.  The use of sound is heard throughout the film but becomes louder during more intense scenes for example during our film when Charlotte sees the figure for the first time the music becomes loud and puts the audience on edge. At the start of our film genre conventions are used for example in the film Scream the setting is in a house and the main character was living a normal day to day life just like Charlotte then suddenly something dramatic and scary happens. The title of our film shows its a horror as the writing is in bold and in a big font which we thought would attract the right audience for a horror film.

The couple featured in our film are moving into a new house which is a important part in someones life as it shows independence and that they are growing up. This relates to some of our target audience as some may have moved into their own house or about to with either friends, their partner or by themselves. Not only does this relate to people who have moved out but it also relates to some of the younger people in our target audience who may be thinking of moving out soon or in the future. However some people who have recently moved in to a new house may have enjoyed the experience so would enjoy watching this but also if someone is about to move into a new house watching this may put them off doing it.
