Batman: The Dark Knight opening scene analysis
The scene starts of with a high angle shot of one of the robbers loading up a weapon. A high angle shot is used which shows some of the setting. There is then a long shot of three of the robbers going down a zip wire from a tall building. This makes the audience feel tense and makes them think are they going to live or is the wire going to snap with three people on it at once. A while later there is a close up of two of the robbers with masks on which makes the audience wonder what they look like and have they been in any previous Batman films. Another close up is shown when one of the bank workers is talking to one of the robbers who is the joker but the audience doesn't know it's the joker unless you know his voice and then he removes his mask which reveals his face covered in face paint. Mise en scene is used during this opening scene including props such as the guns and face masks. Also the main scene is the bank and makeup is used for the joker. From the opening scene you don't find anything out about the story but the audience knows that the joker is going to play a big part in the film.
