Scary Movie opening scene analysis

 The film begins with an establishing shot to show the setting of the first scene.The scene is set in a house and the girl seems to be alone and its dark. Scary movie is a horror film but also jokes about them by using stereotypical conventions from a horror like the crazy serial killer in this film. A close up is then used to show popcorn cooking which suggest that something will happen when the popcorn is done cooking.

Mise en scene is used in this scene as we are shown the female character use the phone which is the main part not only in this scene but the whole film as this is what the killer uses to contact his victims and without it the killer would have to find another way to kill the victims he is targeting.
